Trump Announces $500 Billion AI Partnership with OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank

Donald Trump has announced a $500 billion AI partnership between OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank, calling it “the largest AI infrastructure project in history.” The initiative, named Stargate, will establish a nationwide network of data centers to support AI development.

Trump highlighted that Stargate aims to create over 100,000 American jobs “almost immediately” by constructing the critical computing infrastructure needed for artificial intelligence growth.

This project represents one of Trump’s first significant business moves since returning to office. It also underscores the United States’ push to stay ahead of China and other global competitors in AI innovation.

“China is a competitor, and others are competitors. We want this to be in our country,” Trump said during the White House announcement. He was joined by Oracle’s Larry Ellison, SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.

Trump Accelerates AI Expansion with Bold Infrastructure Plans

Donald Trump announced plans to use emergency declarations to fast-track the development of energy infrastructure for the Stargate initiative. “We have to get this stuff built,” Trump stated. “They have to produce a lot of electricity, and we’ll make it possible for them to get that production done very easily at their own plants.”

This announcement follows Trump’s reversal of Joe Biden’s executive order on AI safety standards and content watermarking. The move signals a major shift in US artificial intelligence policy.

Although the $500 billion investment is significant, it aligns with industry trends. Blackstone, a leading financial firm, had already projected $1 trillion in US data center investments over the next five years.

Trump framed Stargate as a symbol of confidence in his leadership. “This monumental undertaking is a resounding declaration of confidence in America’s potential under a new president,” he said.

The initiative builds on Trump’s earlier announcement of a $20 billion AI data center investment from UAE-based DAMAC Properties. Initial data center projects will launch in Texas, with additional sites under evaluation nationwide.

The Stargate AI partnership highlights Trump’s commitment to advancing America’s role in artificial intelligence. By accelerating energy infrastructure and attracting major investments, this initiative seeks to drive innovation and create jobs. Starting in Texas, the partnership showcases a strategic approach to strengthening the nation’s competitive edge in the global AI race.
