Eriez® has received a £100,000 ($165,000 USD) grant from Innovate UK, the nation’s top research and innovation agency. This funding will fast-track Eriez’ research and development in artificial intelligence (AI) for next-generation AI-powered metal detection systems.
The grant will fuel a new feasibility study aimed at revolutionizing metal detection in the food and pharmaceutical industries, according to Christopher Dyer, Lead R&D Electronic Engineer at Eriez-Europe.
Additionally, Eriez is allocating part of the funds to an eight-month research program in partnership with Cardiff University. Dyer will lead a team of experts from Eriez and the university, including several Ph.D. researchers, as they push the boundaries of AI technology.
This initiative strengthens Eriez’ ongoing strategic partnership with Cardiff University, which has played a key role in advancing the company’s technology portfolio. Their latest collaboration led to the launch of Eriez at sbarc|spark, a cutting-edge research and development hub at the university.
This partnership also contributed to the development of the new Eriez MetAlarm metal detector, designed specifically for the aggregates sector. Launched in Q2 2024, MetAlarm marks a major leap forward in signal processing technology.
