Elon Musk set to launch Grok 3, the ‘smartest AI on Earth’

Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has announced the launch of Grok 3, his latest AI chatbot. The new model debuts with a live demonstration on Monday at 8 PM PT (Tuesday 9:30 AM IST). Musk shared the news on X, formerly Twitter, calling it the “smartest AI on Earth.”

Musk Calls Grok 3 ‘Scary Smart’ as AI Race Heats Up

Elon Musk believes Grok 3’s intelligence is so advanced it’s “scary smart.” Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, he suggested the new model would surpass all existing AI systems. “At times, I think Grok 3 is scary smart,” he said. Unlike previous versions, It trains on synthetic data and can refine its knowledge by verifying information for logical accuracy.

The AI race is intensifying, with Musk’s company pushing to build the most advanced chatbot. Meanwhile, China’s DeepSeek has developed a cost-effective AI that could challenge ChatGPT. At the same time, tensions between Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are escalating. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI as a non-profit in 2015, has criticized its shift to a for-profit model. “They changed the name to ‘closed’ for maximum profit AI,” he said, even filing a lawsuit against OpenAI over this transformation.

Challenges and Milestones of the Grok 3 Development Team

Many people already see it as a highly promising AI tool. However, building it came with major challenges. The development team had to build a data center from scratch. To make things harder, they had only four months to do it. The pressure was intense.

Despite that, the xAI team got 100,000 GPUs running in just 22 days. Even more impressive, they doubled that capacity within 92 days. That marked a major milestone. Throughout the process, the xAI team worked relentlessly. They pushed hard to develop Grok 3 and pack it with powerful, unique features.

Core features of Grok 3

Grok 3 packs several unique features that help it stand out. By exploring its key traits, you’ll better understand what this new AI can do. Here are the highlights:

DeepSearch

DeepSearch sets Grok 3 apart. This AI-powered smart search engine boosts both transparency and interaction. It breaks down complex queries into smaller parts and delivers deep contextual insights.

Availability

Grok 3 is already live for Premium+ users on X. But that’s not all. The team also plans to launch a new subscription tier called SuperGrok. While it hasn’t rolled out yet, it’s coming soon for even wider access.

Reasoning Model

Grok 3 takes a fresh approach to AI design. Instead of mimicking older models, it focuses on reasoning. That shift gives it stronger thinking capabilities and greater flexibility.
